Good post Byron - nobody ever thinks about the long lines waiting for the iPhone to come out, yet when you purchase an iPhone it loses its value because there is always a new one in the works. But Jordans are timeless shoes & you amongst many others have been able to capitalize on your purchase. Plus they're shoes - you can't break a shoe. You don't need insurance. You can wear them even when they're not fresh out of stores hot. I've never did the waiting in line ordeal, but lbeing from the 757 like you, I can appreciate the movement. It was definitely a big deal to be seen with the Jordans on that Monday. Everybody knows not only did you have the money to purchase them, but you were patient in your endeavor to do so!

I saw the twitter rants last night and I think its Twitter tradition, because this happened last year same time when a pair of Jordans got released. Everybody complains about something up there ... whats new?!

I disagree about society "respecting" people who wait in line at an Apple store...they just got cleverly mocked in a Samsung commercial.

I can relate to the Jordan madness due to my nail polish collection. I've received a lot of criticism for the money and time spent, but it's my hobby. I've spent quite a bit collecting certain ones that remind me of my adolescence.

With that said, maybe some collectors chase after the things that remind them of better times as a source of comfort in today's topsy-turvy world.

What people buy with their money is fine. I just don't understand the whole waiting in line, and stampeding. Not the purchase. I'm still trying to understand it all.

The people who CAN afford to purchase Jordan's are not a part of the issue, they aren't killing each other. The issue isn't the ability to afford them, its the power that is put behind the value of something so insignificant. Society has been trained (predominately minorities) to concentrate on the most unimportant things, while the government moves them to out to rebuild and move others in. Or pass laws that can indefinitely imprison Americans with no proper trail or questions asked (and it doesn't only pertain to "war" issues, can be any level of "unpatriotic" acts.) Our intelligence as a nation is crippled to keep us addicted to something, money, sex, drugs, food, clothing or experts to tell us how to do something. Not to mention just plain moral values. The problem is not black or white, not Apple or Jordan. Its the society in which we live in as a whole. To me that sneaker and "waiting in line" symbolizes what is important to many Americans. #LOOKINGBAD

Great read. Not many people see the parallels of the Apple iPhone & iPad as compared to the brand loyalty that the Jordan has maintained for years. For some reason it is ok to drop $500 dollars on a phone but not $200 for a pair of sneakers. To each his own!

BP! I was just telling Quash about our Jordan venture out to Maryland...only 6 people in line. Being from 757, we can only appreciate the gratitude of standing in lines. But, the nonsense that occurred today to get these Concords is beyond me!

I see your shoes still holding up, mine the same!! I have not worn them in years!
